What if Aries isn't the First Sign
Coming from a Place of Belonging Starts with You
As the Sun has finished its annual visit to the Head of the Whale, the constellation known in astronomy as Cetus, I feel called to share my reflections.
What happened in this window of time, April 18th - May 3rd, was quite possibly destabilizing for many, and for others a re-birthing. How was it for you?
The Background
First allow me to clarify what the sun was not illuminating through the stars at the end of April: the constellations of Aries or Taurus. If you haven’t heard, Western also known as Tropical Astrology is legends, not present day calculations.
If your goal is presence and connection imagine how deep your alignment can be when you tap into the astronomical calculations. I am not sharing this from shame, but as an invitation for the tremendous evolution that is possible.
Yes, the Sun goes beneath Aries on the ecliptic around April 18th, however, the predominate healing for our world is not found by putting Aries first.
Rather, to rebuild from the bottom up means from the depths of the earth’s waters. What I mean is: ARIES IS NOT THE FIRST SIGN IN THE ZODIAC, CETUS IS.
Cetus the Whale’s Tail is the 14th sign and the Whale’s Head is the 1st sign.
As Cetus is between Pisces and Aries, we tune into the whale’s song to forge the wheel together from the end to the beginning.
There is a felt sense of knowing like whale mothers migrating using electro-magnetic feeling as their intuition that we must reclaim the birth process and the postpartum time. Whether you have given birth or not physically, we all know what it feels like to “birth an idea or a project.”
The Constellation of Cetus at the Head
We see the Cetus constellation become very close to the ecliptic again with the whale’s head. Celestially, the ecliptic runs under Aries’ feet and above Cetus’ head. Cetus’ head doesn’t cross the ecliptic, neither does Aries’ stars, but depending on your individual placement it gets rather close. So, I give them both their “space.”
I don’t shift to the Sun in Aries’ light until May 4th - May 13th. Although it may sound like a brief ten day window of time, it’s plenty to integrate the energy of a baby running into the world full throttle! If you have spent time with a baby when she has learned to walk you know what I mean;)
This embodiment stands up and states their divine existence, just like I am doing while the Sun is in Aries with this share. Before a baby learns to walk independently, she is very much tied to the mother. Now you can take this image to understand what Cetus’ head symbolizes for us in the spiritual journey.
Cetus’ Head at the start of the zodiac symbolizes the evolved baby.
First as a womb baby, which seems to have cognition beyond the physical. The amniotic fluid, coded with unconditional love, that was once all around the baby breaks. Then the head crowning at birth is felt. Finally, a newborn baby, freshly imprinted from the amniotic fluid into the cerebrospinal fluid is born into Earth.
So if you felt sensitive and fresh at the end of April, perhaps the stars can illustrate the meaning.
PATTERNS of the Zodiac
When we move sequentially through the zodiac in order to remember our divine existence and restore the sacred hierarchy, we can expand into receiving the healing potential of Cetus’ light pattern. As we remember Cetus’ Head, we restore our belonging to the SOURCE & LOVE.
If we leave out this part of the birth story, that we are inherently born in love & Oneness, then we don’t receive the healing from separation through astrology.
While the Earth is in Virgo during this time the Virgo/ Cetus’ Head Pattern is a call to imprint your earthly belonging with love. It is slightly different from the Virgo/Aries Pattern, which is to declare your divine existence as I Am consciousness.
You can “declare you exist,” but if it isn’t imprinted with love, it’s most likely imprinted with fear. Much of our world is living in this state: walking around disconnected to Source Love.
We all need a rebirth into LOVE. There’s always more opportunities to do so!
In the Light of the Constellations
Every year, the Sun passes through this great transition. Every month, we re-visit this light pattern for a day, half on Cetus’ tail and half on Cetus’ head surrounding each side of a Pisces Moon. The planets also parade through the constellations.

How do we re-pattern our communication from a place of Belonging?
Most of us were raised with modern communication skills such as peace talk & non-violent communication classes. Especially if you become a parent, your impulsive communication repeats the words stored in your subconscious brain. In other words, you parent the way you were parented.
The potential for biologic good here is potent, so is the tangible pain of less than kind transmissions. Here’s three prompts to contemplate while Mercury is in Cetus’ Head:
